Speciality eggs for medical research
Hens eggs are used because the embryo can be accessed during the rapid cell development. It takes just 21 days to incubate an egg into a fully formed day old chick. Studying the development of mammals is a difficult process, and the insights gathered from studies using eggs often provide useful comparative information.
Many of our speciality eggs are currently being used in biomedical and veterinary research.

Medeggs has been supplying quality, speciality eggs for medical research from their family run farm in Norfolk since 2002.
We work to Defra Poultry Health Scheme international standards.
There are two types of hen the Dekalb White and the Shaver Brown. They have been selected for their health, and for their production of good quality eggs. All our eggs are between 53g and 63g in size.
It goes without saying that the eggs must be handled with care at all times. They can be stored for up to 10 days within a temperature of 12-18C. After this time the development of the embryo slows, and the fertility of the egg diminishes by 1-2% per day.
